Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, facilitates the purchase of local traditional Arak products from Marriot Group and The Apurva Kempinski.

Governor Wayan Koster of Bali, accompanied by Bupati Karangasem, Gede Dana, and the Head of Bank Indonesia Bali Representative, Trisno Nugroho, witnessed the agreement between Area Vice President of Marriott – Indonesia, Ramesh Jackson, and General Manager of The Apurva Kempinski Bali, Vincent Guironnet, to purchase or provide alcoholic beverages containing ethyl alcohol using locally sourced fermentation or distillation ingredients unique to Bali, marketed by PT Dewan Arak Bali, for serving at Marriott Group Hotel Bali and The Apurva Kempinski Hotel Bali.

 

This agreement was reached after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Area Vice President of Marriott – Indonesia, Ramesh Jackson, General Manager of The Apurva Kempinski Bali, Vincent Guironnet, and Director of PT Dewan Arak Bali, I Nyoman Juli Arsana, on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Gedung Gajah, Jayasabha, Denpasar.

 

The memorandum of understanding also states that PT Dewan Arak Bali agrees to market or supply alcoholic beverages containing ethyl alcohol using locally sourced fermentation and/or distillation ingredients produced in accordance with the Governance Regulation of Bali Governor Number 1 of 2020 concerning the Governance of Bali’s Fermentation and/or Distillation Drinks.

 

Governor Wayan Koster expressed in his speech that this signing is a significant step taken by the management of Marriott Group Hotel Bali and The Apurva Kempinski Hotel Bali in collaboration with local Bali’s traditional arak product industry. He emphasized the rapid development of local Bali’s traditional arak, both in terms of quality, taste, and packaging, which was initiated by the issuance of the Governance Regulation of Bali Governor Number 1 of 2020 concerning the Governance of Bali’s Fermentation and/or Distillation Drinks.

 

Governor Wayan Koster also expressed his appreciation for Marriott Group Hotel Bali and The Apurva Kempinski Hotel Bali, acknowledging them as pioneers who have shown love and pride for local Bali products. He expressed his hope that the support for Bali’s products would extend beyond a single item, urging the purchase of various Bali products such as rice, eggs, salt, fish, meat, oranges, mangosteens, salak fruit, and vegetables, to ensure that tourists fully experience the ambiance of Bali. This support is aimed at bringing smiles and recovery to all farmers, fishermen, businesses, producers, and distributors in Bali, fostering collective growth, strength, and benefits in accordance with the vision of Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali.

 

In conclusion, Governor Wayan Koster, hailing from Desa Sembiran, Buleleng, emphasized his role as Governor of Bali in building an ecosystem to deliver high-quality tourism and promote the prosperity and happiness of the community. He expressed his hope that the signing of this agreement would be consistently implemented and followed by other tourism stakeholders, receiving applause from the local Bali traditional arak industry representatives present at Gedung Gajah, Jayasabha.

 

Trisno Nugroho, the Head of Bank Indonesia Bali Representative, stated that the cooperation with the Marriott Group Hotel Bali and The Apurva Kempinski Hotel Bali has undergone proper procedures, and it has been determined that Bali’s arak products meet the requirements for presentation in international hotels. He expressed his hope that other local Bali products would also be included, aligning with Governor Wayan Koster’s vision. Bank Indonesia aims to revitalize Bali’s economy despite the current challenging global conditions and emphasized the need for collaboration to rise above the circumstances.
